The Hawjabrans are one of the more advanced minor races, but not as advanced as the Andalites. They specialize in cybernetics, such as prostetics and implant devices.

Hawjabran shielding technology is more designed for absorping/deflecting space debris, physical objects and radiation then weapons fire. This is because most of their vessels are freighters and not warships. Unlike most shields, they are not energy based. They consist of a clear paste made from the processed leaves of the Keltria tree which grows on many worlds. The leaves are crushed in powerful presses and the pale yellow juice that is collected is then combined with salt water, forming a thick paste which is then applied to the hulls of ships. When it dries it becomes a clear rubbery "skin" that absorbs energy of many different types, glowing yellow as it absords energy, and cushions against physical impacts as well. The paste must be re-applied after each heavy battle or after 6 months of standard use.  This makes the Keltria tree a valuable resource for the Hawjabran and other races that make use of them.


The hulls of their ships are composed of an alloy of titanium 75% and kiriam ore 25%. Kiriam ore is mined from asteroids and some moons, it is alloyed with titanium at which point it serves to strengthen the titanium making the alloy 10 times stronger than standard titanium armor. Some call the alloy "Ki-tanium". It is a strong black colored metal, yet still workable and as light as standard titanium. It serves its intended purpose as hull material/medium grade armor very well.


Energy turretEdit

The Hawjabran energy turret, more commonly called a pulse gun, fires pulses of charged energy particles (technically making it an ion weapon). The operation of these weapons is simple, yet very efficiant. Electricity from the weapons power source is streamed into a Tryonite crystal that charges for around half a second before emitting a burst of Tryon particles (a type of high energy particle having a positive charge,100 times the mass of an electron and are not believed to be made up of simpler particles.) this crude pulse is then compressed into a dense spherical bolt and fired out of the weapon by magnetic rings inside the barrel. The pulse/bolt retains its shape and cohesion because of a residual magnetic field that holds the particles together until they strike something or else reach a certain range and the field weakens causing the pulse to dissipate. The pulses are purple.

The crystals are cheap to produce, so most vessels are armed with multiple cannons. A pistol version is also very popular among the military. It functions in the same manner as the larger cannons but it is not nearly as powerful. Maximum range for a ship based cannon is 750 km and for a pistol the range is about 75 m. Power output is typically 100 mj per bolt for a cannon and 2 kj per bolt for a pistol, fighter based weapons have an output of 4.5 mj per bolt and a range of 250 m. Like all particle weapons they do damage to the targets molecular structure by kinetic energy transfer. The high electrical charge also causes secondary destructive effects. While most particle weapons fire at near the speed of light, these do not. Instead they fire their pulses at sub-sonic speeds but compensate by packing many, many particles into each near solid bolt so as to still pack a punch.
