The Hunter interceptor is used in groups. Its name,"Hunter" comes from ancient Kelbrid flying hunters that would track, kill and eat creatures on their homeworld, and also they would lay their eggs in the host to be reletively safe well they matured. These Kelbrid were similer to earths hunting Wasps. The Hunter interceptor almost never functions alone, at least two are always with each other, with four to six ships in a group being quite commen. They swarm and flank larger enemy warships. They are a staple of the Kelbrid war fleet.

Tactics used by the Hunter interceptor are designed to maximize its strengths and downplay its weaknesses. The most commen tactics used are as follows.

Protect.

The Kelbrid are quite skilled with energy projection technology. The protect stratagy is not unique to Hunter class ships, but it is commenly employed by them. One ship in the group takes a turn absorbing damage from the opponent well the others project a portion of their shield power onto that ship. Species or captains unfamilure with Kelbrid ships have stumped by the one small ship being unscathed even when faced with the brunt of his weapons fire. Often, this breeds a great fear of Kelbrid vessels, if the small patrol ships are this tough, what about larger ones?

Counter by attacking the distant Hunter vessels. Your D.E weapons losing energy over distance is balanced by the distant Hunter ships weak shields.

Lure.

One or two Hunter ships reveal themselves to the enemy in an attempt to get the ship/ships to persue. The Hunter ships, generally faster and more manueverable then opponents, lead them on until they are in the designated kill zone. Then two or more other Hunters ambush the target, often jumping out of Z-space or comming out from behind a moon or asteroid.

Swarm.

Simple, assault your opponent with as much force as you can bring to bear in the time alloted. The swarm tactic is used to shock an awe, or to cover other escaping Kelbrid ships. The swarm tactic often ends with the Hunter class ships ramming the opponent when they are almost destroyed themselves.

Inject.

Kelbrid hunter ships are equipped with hull drilling devices. Kelbrid hunters drain the shields of a vessel with E.H.D's or pulse turret fire, then the latch on and drill into the enemy vessel, disgourging troops or gas/bio weapons.
